Choosing the perfect size Antler Chews
As with ANY dog chew or toy, to ensure safety, remove antler chews when it becomes a choking hazard.
Choosing the appropriate size is most important to avoid possible hazards.
“Bigger is Better!”
Sometimes the spirit of the dog will also help guide you in choosing the right antler chew. “Scooter,” a mini Australian Shepard, prefers the Extra Large Antler Dog Bone!
Aggressive chewers will go through an antler chew much faster, larger sizes will last longer.
Small Antler Chews are recommended “Toy” breeds, <10 lbs, such as: Shih Tzu, Miniature Dachshund, Toy Poodle, Maltese, Pomeranian, Pub, Chihuahua, Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier), Bichon Frise or similar sized breeds.
Medium Antler Chews are recommended breeds such as: Corgi, Beagle, Dachshund, Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog), Cocker Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer, Boston Terrier, Miniature Poodle or similar sized.
Large Antler Chews are recommended breeds for such as: Labradors Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Boxer, Bulldog, Standard Poodle, Pointer (German Shorthaired), Collie or Husky to name a few. These breeds may also enjoy the extra large bone depending on overall size, temperament or personal preference of the owner.
Extra Large XL Antler Chews are 2 inches longer and thinker in diameter than the large. Determining the best choice between the two may overlap depending on size and temperament of the dog, or preference by the owner. Extra large bones are recommended for breeds such as: Labradors Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, or Husky. They are especially good for Mastiff, Rottweiler, Great Dane, Irish Wolfhound, Bernese Mountain Dog, or similar sized.
